Scenic Wetlands Drive at Lake Apopka

Located on the 20,000-acre restored land of Lake Apopka North Shore, this drive begins at 2850 Lust Road in Apopka and winds for 11 miles through levees, canals and marshes. The route is one-way, with a speed limit of just 10 mph, no trailers, and vehicle length limited to 25 feet - ensuring a slow-paced, immersive experience.
The setting is outstanding for bird-watching: more than 360 bird species have been recorded here, making it one of Florida’s premier birding locations. Along the way you may also see alligators, otters, turtles and other wetland wildlife.
Stops are possible at designated pulloffs for viewing, photography or a short walk. There’s also a self-guided audio tour accessible via mobile at numbered signs along the drive. The property is managed by the St. Johns River Water Management District, and the drive is open to vehicles Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with exit required by 5 p.m.)
